How do "muggles" react to anime? - Forum

Just for clarification: I used the word "muggle" to refer to non-anime people, hah!

So, as curious as I am, I can't help but wonder, what kind of reactions do you get from people in your lives about anime? What do your friends make of it? Your parents? Do they even understand what anime is?

As for me, my family doesn't care much about the fact that I watch anime. But they do think it's silly and that this kind of thing is only suitable for kids. That attitude really pisses me off sometimes.. ARGHH! But what you gonna do... It's their loss, not mine.

Well, If it was in my side of life, the muggles here are more influenced by k-pop or "korean boy/girl bands" might i add. Even the old anime people migrated to that influenza.

My friends on the other hand seems to find it childish as well, and that includes my family as well *sighs*
and I agree with you Ishi ! it's their loss :D

But mostly people tend to think anime is another "interesting" hobby which I have inhabit xD

But somehow most people over here tend to understand anime as .."porn" ... O.O which I somewhat left me numb.

Muggles are non-anime people D: Clever!

Where I come from, no one really knows what anime is, with the exception of a few people.

My mom had actually sketched a really good version of Roy Mustang from one of my screenshots XD Some of my friends watch anime but they can't tolerate anything other than the mainstream ones(Naruto, Bleach, One Piece, etc.) One of my teachers used to watch Inu Yasha, too.
